Gigabyte A75-UD4H review

Despite having plenty of ports and a thoughtful expansion slot layout, this isn’t the best FM1 motherboard around, but it certainly does its job well

Specifications

FM1, ATX, AMD A75 chipset, supports: Llano

This ATX FM1 board from Gigabyte is packed with ports and features. A quick glance at the back panel presents four USB3 ports and two USB ports, plus eSATA3 and FireWire connections. You can view your Llano processor’s on-chip graphics using VGA, DVI, HDMI or DisplayPort connectors, and your audio needs are just as well catered for with plenty of analogue audio outputs and an optical S/PDIF output, both of which are driven by a Realtek ALC889 audio processor.

Gigabyte A75-UD4H

On the board itself, you’ll find two PCI-E x16 slots (although one of them only runs at x8), three PCI-E x1 slots and two PCI slots. It’s worth noting that if you install PCI-E x16 graphics cards with large coolers in either x16 slot, the PCI-E or PCI slot next to them will be blocked. The motherboard also has four memory slots that are capable of handling 64GB of RAM, and five SATA3 ports. There are also four USB2 headers, two USB3 headers and a header for an extra FireWire port.

Gigabyte A75-UD4H

We were disappointed to find that Gigabyte hasn’t provided a proper UEFI interface, or even a UEFI compliant one; there’s just a familiar and rather dated Award BIOS interface. It’s a bit cluttered, but all the overclocking options we want are there.

Gigabyte A75-UD4H

With the A75-UD4H gaining an overall score of 67 in our benchmark tests and 28.2fps in our 720p Dirt3 integrated graphics frame rate test, we have no complaints about the A75-UD4H’s performance. We were also pleased by the range of ports available. The motherboard didn’t blow us away with its features or functionality, but it is good value for money and it does everything you’re likely to want. A more expenisve alternative is the Asus F1A75-V PRO.
