Sharp Aquos LC40CT2E review
The Sharp LC40CT is very cheap, but the poor image quality means that it's not worth buying.
Specifications
40in, Freeview HD, analogue, 1920×1080 resolution, 3D: no, 3x HDMI
The Sharp LC40CT2E is incredibly cheap for a 40in LCD TV from a big brand, and it’s a cheaper than a lot of 32in models. But as always, a low price doesn’t necessarily mean good value. The LC40CT2E may be cheap, but its budget roots show through in its performance.
At first glance the Sharp looks every inch a budget option, with its plain looks making it appear quite data. We’re not in the habit of judging a book (or TV) by its cover, so let’s look at what’s under its skin.
The story doesn’t improve when it comes to connection options, with the LC40CT2E having only three HDMI ports, while every other 40in screen we’ve seen recently has four. There’s also a component input, two SCART, one composite and, surprisingly, an S-Video port. You also get a VGA port for hooking up a PC, and we’re glad to say that the TV had no problem displaying a PC desktop at its native 1,920×1,080 resolution.
