Jaguar C-X75 £700,000 hybrid supercar incoming

If you thought that hybrid cars were a poor compromise designed for people to show off about how much they car about the environment, think again. Jaguar is set to redefine the view of hybrid cars with its £700,000 C-X75.

Its downsized, highly boosted petrol engine and four-wheel drive will propel the car to 60mph in less than three seconds and 100mph less than three seconds later. It will top out at over 200mph. For city driving, the car has two electric motors that will give the vehicle a 50km range, while its batteries are charged by the petrol engine.

The surprising thing about the car is that it will generate less than 99gm/km of CO2 emissions, which is enough to make the car exempt from road tax in the UK. This will be achieved partly a lightweight carbon-fibre chassis. Williams F1 will help produce the car, providing its engineering experience in aerodynamics, carbon composite manufacture and hybrid technologies.

Even in the world of supercars, we can still produce the most beautiful.”

If you want to get your hands on one of these cars, you’ll need to be rich and get in fairly quickly. Only 250 cars will be built and they’ll cost between £700,000 and £900,000 each depending on the local market and taxes.
