Best whisky deals
1. Bushmills Original Irish Whiskey (was £27; now £19)
A pub and home drinks cabinet classic, Bushmills is aged for four years in bourbon barrels and has a light flavour with hints of vanilla. Even better, the attention-grabbing price above is for a one-litre bottle.
2. Green Spot Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey (was £38; now £32)
Green Spot is our favourite Irish whiskey (note the important “e”): it’s a creamy, triple-distilled dram that, until recently, was only available at the Dublin distillery. The minimalist bottle and gift tube look great too.
3. Auchentoshan Three Wood Single Malt Whisky (was £49; now £38)
We think this is the very best single-malt Scottish whisky you can buy. It’s matured in sherry casks and has an exceptionally smooth, fruity flavour that has a note of Christmas pudding. It’s the perfect fireside companion.
4. Aberlour A’Bunadh Single Malt Whisky (was £91; now £65)
If you’re after a more intense taste or a gift for the whisky lover in your life, this special edition from Aberlour brings to mind raisins, spice, orange, chocolate and oak. You can’t argue with a whopping £25 off, either.
Best rum deals
1. Wood’s Old Navy Rum (was £29; now £20)
The iconic Wood’s Old Navy Rum is still made to the original recipe from 1887 and certainly packs a punch at 57%. Its smooth spice flavours mean you can channel your inner sea dog and drink it neat, while it also stands up to mixers.
2. Kraken Black Spiced Rum (was £33; now £26)
Named after the terrifying creature that lurks in the deep, Kraken’s notes of coffee, nut and toffee make it an easy-sipper – with no cough-inducing rum burn. It’s also delicious with coke or ginger beer, as well as in an espresso martini with a spicy twist.
3. Mount Gay Barbados Golden Rum (was £37; now £31)
Want to transport yourself from chilly Blighty to the shores of the Caribbean? This Mount Gay rum is aged in charred bourbon barrels, giving it a toasty edge before a slightly sweeter finish. No wonder we declared it to be the best golden rum.
Best gin deals
1. Bloom London Dry Gin (was £25; now £17)
Our favourite budget gin just got even cheaper. It’s an easy-drinker that lives up to the Bloom name with floral notes from the honeysuckle, pomelo and chamomile botanicals. The Victorian-style bottle will look good on your kitchen worktop too.
2. Boodles British London Dry Gin (was £22; now £18)
Boodles has been making gin since 1845 and it really shows: this traditional London dry gin has a crisp flavour that’s tailor-made for tonic or other cocktails. It’s a must if you’re hosting this Christmas.
3. Abelforth’s Bathtub Gin (was £34; now £25)
Abelforth’s Bathtub Gin has won more awards than could possibly fit on its label. The company takes London dry gin and then adds a further seven botanicals for a flavour that’s ideal on the rocks with a slice of orange. It scoops the best-looking bottle prize too.
Best liqueur deals
1. Edinburgh Gin Pomegranate and Rose Gin Liqueur (was £17; now £11)
The cheapest bottle on this list is also one of the most flavourful: it’s sweet without being sickly and brings to mind high-quality Turkish delight. It’s at its best on ice, but we’d also recommend mixing it with tonic for a longer apéritif.
2. Fireball Cinnamon Whisky Liqueur (was £20; now £15)
Want to get the party started? Fireball does what it says on the bottle, tickling your tongue with natural cinnamon and Canadian whisky. Stick it in the freezer for the best shot, but you can also mix it with apple juice to create a winter warmer.
3. Sheep Dog Peanut Butter Whisky Liqueur (was £26; now £19)
We all know a peanut butter fiend who spreads it on everything from rice cakes to hot cross buns. Now they can drink it too in the form of this whisky-based liqueur, which is best enjoyed as an ice-cold shot.
