Kindle Paperwhite sees HUGE price crash for Prime Day
This Kindle Prime Day deal is Paper-quite good
Amazon’s annual two-day Prime Day sales event has just kicked off and the online retail giant has started predictably dishing out customary reductions to its own-brand devices, including this substantial Kindle Paperwhite price drop.
If you’re quick – this deal expires at midday on 22 June – you can scoop up Amazon’s terrific waterproof e-reader for only £80. Compare this to the usual price of £120, and you’re looking at a wallet-saving discount of £40.
Of course, this new low price only applies to the Kindle Paperwhite with 8GB of internal storage and lock-screen adverts. If you’re hoping to remove lock-screen ads, then you’ll have to spend an extra £10 (£90). Double the storage to 32GB and you’ll be paying at least £110, which is yet another £40 saving.
As for features, the latest Kindle Paperwhite is now fully IPX8 waterproof – like the top-end Kindle Oasis – and it has Audible integration, too, which means you can continue to feed your brain when your eyes are too tired to read.
The reading experience remains the same, not that that’s a bad thing. The Paperwhite’s 300ppi, 6in E Ink screen is a delight, with sharp-looking text and low blue-light emissions for easy reading at night. It also pairs well with Amazon’s wide selection of free ebooks for Prime members.
If you’re hoping to save even more money, then the basic Kindle has also dropped in price for a limited time. Starting at just £50, the entry-level Kindle lacks the Paperwhite’s waterproofing, but it’s also a solid e-reader if money is a bit tight.
