How to watch Fast and the Furious in the UK, US and abroad

Beep, beep! We’re coming through, Toretto! Here’s a guide on how to watch all the Fast and the Furious films

The latest offshoot of the Fast and Furious franchise, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, became the 11th of its furious ilk. However, the fun doesn’t stop there. Fast & Furious 9 is currently in production, scheduled for release in May 2020.

This wouldn’t have been possible without the first film that started it all. Despite mixed reviews, 2001’s ‘The Fast and the Furious’ became a commercial success. Vin Diesel (that’s his stage name, by the way) and Paul Walker, who were relative unknowns until that point, became household names as Dominic Toretto and Detective Brian O’Conner.

As the franchise kept growing, different cast members were gradually added to the list, until Fast and Furious reached almost superhero status with a stellar ensemble cast including Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Jason Statham, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Gal Gadot, Sung Kang and Elsa Pataky – many of whom dip in and out of different movies unless, of course, their characters are killed off.

People wondered how the franchise would move ahead after lead actor Walker passed away during the filming of Furious 7 but – thanks to the magic of CGI – his brothers stepped in to complete his filming sequences. The filmmakers then rewrote the script to give him and his onscreen wife (Brewster) a happy ending.

The Fast and the Furious franchise is now the ninth highest-grossing film franchise of all time, ahead of Jurassic Park, Batman and Transformers. Apart from great cars, well-choreographed races, macho fight sequences and over-the-top stunts, the franchise also has a great soundtrack.

If you’ve already seen the latest movie but your automobile thirst has not been quenched yet, then you’re probably interested in rewatching the previous films. We’d be taking you for a ride if we said it’s going to be easy to find a platform that allows you to watch them all, but we’ll try our best.

List of all the Fast and the Furious films

We mentioned at the start that there are 11 Fast and Furious Films that have been released so far. If you counted nine films, then you’re nearly right, because there are two prelude films that are also officially counted as part of the ‘Fast and the Furious’ franchise.

However, it’s worth noting that these two prelude films are not included on the streaming services mentioned below. They mostly come as special edition discs with the Blu-ray versions of the accompanying film.

  1. The Fast and the Furious (2001)
  2. The Turbo Charged Prelude for 2 Fast 2 Furious (Prelude to 2F2F)
  3. 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003)
  4. The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006)
  5. Los Bandoleros (Prelude to Fast & Furious)
  6. Fast & Furious (2009)
  7. Fast Five (2011)
  8. Fast & Furious 6 (2013)
  9. Furious 7 (2015)
  10. The Fate of the Furious
  11. Hobbs & Shaw

Unfortunately, these are the only two of the franchise you’ll be able to access on Netflix. How to watch Fast and Furious abroad: Use a VPN

Most popular streaming services use geo-blocking to restrict someone in the US, for instance, from accessing content on Amazon Prime Video UK. A VPN – or virtual private network – lets you browse the web anonymously which comes in handy when you come up against a geo-blocked website or service.

VPNs tunnel your connection through any country you choose to trick your device into thinking that it’s located that place, so you can access all its content on any device. In addition to this, they don’t retain user logs and your IP address is encrypted which leaves no data footprint, as you would on a usual browsing session.

ExpressVPN: We haven’t tested a VPN that’s faster or more secure. You get 24/7 customer service, simultaneous use on up to five devices and proof from an independent security audit conducted by PwC that they keep zero user logs. Our readers get three months free when they subscribe to the one-year plan, saving you a massive 49%!
