How to download Instagram stories

The relevance of a social media post is fleeting. What someone posted yesterday is often forgotten about 24 hours later and nowhere is this more obvious than with Instagram Stories.

With this feature, videos and photos people share will disappear after 24 hours. While this can be avoided by turning your Stories into highlights, allowing you to essentially keep your Stories visible for longer, you may decide that you want to keep some of your favourite Stories by downloading them onto your phone or PC.

That’s easier said than done because even though Instagram does allow you to save stories before publishing them, you can’t download them after they’ve been uploaded. If you do want to download Instagram Stories after the fact, however, there are still other ways for you to do so, if you don’t mind jumping through a few extra hoops to do it.

By using third-party apps and services, you can begin downloading your Stories in only a few simple steps.

How to save an Instagram Story before publishing

1. Just before posting your Instagram Story, you’ll see a selection of icons in the top-right corner of the screen.

2. From those symbols, select the one farthest to the left that looks like an arrow pointing down to a horizontal line. You’ll then see a confirmation that your Instagram Story has been saved.

How to download an Instagram Story on iPhone

1. First, go to the App Store and download the app Story Reposter.

2. Once downloaded, open the app and simply search for the name of the person who has the story that you want to download.

3. Having found what you’re looking for, select the Story you want to save and tap Download then Save.

4. Whatever you’ve decided to save can now be viewed in your camera roll.

How to download an Instagram Story on Android

1. To start, access the Play store and download the app called Story Saver.

2. After opening Story Saver, log in to your Instagram account.

3. Now, search for the name of the person’s story you want to download or simply check the stories posted by your followers on Story Saver’s main page.

4. Next, just choose the video or photo you want and save it.

5. Finally, go to your phone’s gallery and you can view your saved stories in the StorySaver folder.
