Want a free Nintendo Switch? Take out a P20 Pro contract this Black Friday
There’s no such thing as a free lunch, but this isn’t too far off
The Switch has doggedly stayed close to full price since its release two years ago. Our best find so far has been £250 from Amazon, but even that’s just £30 off RRP. However, if you’re in the market for a new phone, you could just bag yourself Nintendo’s portable joybox free of charge.
Of course, you have to be willing to put up a fair bit of cash for a 10GB EE contract, but it could be worse. Leading the way is the Huawei P20 Pro – a handset I like so much I went out and bought one – for £53 per month with no upfront cost. That means you’re looking at an overall price of £1,272 over the price of the contract, which isn’t too bad given the combined handset and Switch RRP of £1,080.
Similar deals are also available on the P20 Lite (£38 per month for a total of £912), and Mate 20 Lite (£43 per month for a total of £1,032). Those handsets have a SIM-free RRP of £229 and £379 respectively.
If you’re not keen on Huawei, two other handsets are included. First up is the Nokia 7.1 for £43 per month (a total cost of £1,032), which isn’t too shabby as the handset goes for £349 on its own. The cheapest way of getting a free Nintendo Switch, though, is to plump for the Nokia 3.1 on a £33 per month deal. That’s a total cost of £792, but the phone itself only retails for £130.
If you can afford it, then, it still makes sense to buy your phone and your Switch separately. But for those that want Nintendo’s handheld and want to split the cost over 24 months, this is certainly a deal worth considering.
